There is increasing interest in both the professional and lay literature in the various dimensions of health and health care that affect adults as they age: the diseases that impact adults as they age; their health care, and the quality of that care and their ability to access it; and the psychosocial, biological, and historical dimensions of health and health care. The need for accurate and up-to-date information is particularly acute due to the ever-increasing proportion of older adults that make up the population of the United States. The first portion of the book will contain chapters that are approximately 25 to 40 pages in length. Each chapter will include a list of references and suggested readings. The second portion of the book will consist of 425 to 450 alphabetical entries that relate to the health of older adults. Each entry will be followed by a listing of suggested readings and suggested resources, such as those available on the web. A listing of proposed chapters and entries is included with this proposal. We anticipate that the information will be of value to clinicians and researchers who work with adults age 50 and over and those who wish to increase their understanding of the aging process. [ 收起 ]
